REPORT FROM THE JAMP DELEGATION
JUNE 2003

About 20% of the population is served by the UPMRC’s fixed clinics. UPMRC coordinates with other non-governmental organizations.

.

UPMRC also operates Mobile Clinics, such as this one in a public building in Immatin, a village outside Qalqilyah. The Mobile Clinics visit villages lacking a health center, and for whose population travel to a fixed health center is difficult, which is a common problem due to “internal closure”.

.
RESTRICTIONS ON MOVEMENT OF THE CIVILIAN POPULATION

The restriction of travel between the West Bank/Gaza and Israel has cost most Palestinians their jobs, with consequent unemployment and poverty (both stand at about 70%), malnutrition, and social disruption.
.

This is the Kalandiah checkpoint between Ramallah and Jerusalem.
